Vehicle stop yields drug seizure
In the early morning hours of Feb. 16, Wood Buffalo RCMP seized varying quantities of drugs, drug paraphernalia, weapons and Canadian currency, as part of a vehicle stop conducted in the Gregoire area of Fort McMurray.
Several different substances were seized including Oxycontinin, and Marijuana. Also seized from the vehicle was a knife and a baton, along with several cell phones, and over $700. 31 year-old Adam Whiteford, from the Edmonton area, has been charged with the following offences:
• 3 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose under the Criminal Code;
• 1 count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000 under the Criminal Code.
Wood Buffalo RCMP, along with its law enforcement and other safety partners, continue to work together in a targeted approach to disadvantaging groups and individuals who contribute to drug related activity in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
