Charges laid in aggravated sexual assault
Wood Buffalo RCMP have laid charges against a Fort McMurray man in connection with an incident of sexual assault that occurred at approximately 4 pm, on Dec. 30, 2011, in the Thickwood area. Police were called to an outdoor area on Signal Road were a 24 year-old female had been attacked by a young male. The investigation revealed that the suspect had approached the victim, brandished a knife, and threatened her safety if she did not comply with his demands. The victim was admitted to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries and later released from medical care.
